DATE: September 2, 2026 (Tuesday)
TIME: Morning
VENUE: Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC), Quezon City
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH: Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) and Physicians for Peace
SUMMARY OF EVENTS:
On September 2, 2026, the Rotary Club of Cubao West officially launched its Flagship Global Grant Project — Project Prosthesis at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC), in partnership with PCMC and Physicians for Peace.
This launch marked the beginning of our Legacy Year commitment to provide free prosthetic limbs to underprivileged child amputees.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE LAUNCH:
Opening Program at PCMC: Welcome remarks by PCMC Rehabilitation Department Head, District Governor Rhyan Virrey and RCCW President Portia Zarate Mendoza. Physicians for Peace representatives presented their commitment and technical expertise.
Project Presentation: RCCW presented the Global Grant objectives, beneficiaries, and timeline — from launch (Sept 2) to casting (Oct 21) to final fitting and turnover.
MOA / Partnership Reaffirmation: RCCW, PCMC, and Physicians for Peace reaffirmed their partnership for sustainable prosthesis provision, therapy, and follow-up.
Introduction of Initial Beneficiaries: First batch of child beneficiaries were introduced — children who lost limbs due to congenital conditions, accidents, and illnesses.
Facility Tour: RCCW members toured PCMC Rehab facility and prosthesis laboratory where custom-made prosthetics are fabricated.
Fellowship & Commitment: Simple fellowship with PCMC staff and Physicians for Peace, sealing our shared mission: to restore mobility and hope.
RCCW PARTICIPATION:
Led by President Portia Zarate Mendoza, RCCW members attended in full support, wearing RCCW Legacy shirts.
Active coordination with PCMC and Physicians for Peace for beneficiary screening and documentation.
Photo documentation and public image coverage for District 3780 and Rotary Foundation.
IMPACT & SIGNIFICANCE:
Official Start of Global Grant: Sept 2 launch officially activated our Global Grant implementation — a major accomplishment for Governor’s Visit.
Legacy Project Activated: From launch to Oct 21 casting, this project shows continuity and sustainability — not a one-day activity.
Children Given Hope: Initial beneficiaries now have hope to walk, run, and go to school again.
Strong Partnership: PCMC + Physicians for Peace + RCCW = world-class, sustainable service model — exactly what The Rotary Foundation wants to see.
The September 2 launch at PCMC was the first step of our promise — to give the gift of walking. It led to our next milestone on October 21, 2026 at 2PM — Provision & Casting of New Recipients — From launch to casting to fitting — this is RCCW Legacy in action. Service with Passion and Purpose.
